A second look - Hackney in Photography in 1890's, 1970's and today

The east side of Mare Street

The east side of Mare Street, from a little north of Morning Lane to Hackney Station railway bridge. Taken from the south corner of Sylvester Road, outside the Cock Tavern, about the same period as the previous photograph but in the late afternoon, judging from the long shadows cast by the westernly sun. Date, 1887.
